Fireside Apple Crisp
Grandma's apple crisp has met its match! The Fireside Apple Crisp is the perfect nightcap dessert. There is something so comforting about relaxing around the fire and smelling the apple and cinnamon aroma - it's a perfect pairing. This one will leave your guests craving more!
Apple Mixture
- 5 honey crisp apples
- 2 TBSP brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Dash of lemon juice
- 2 TBSP butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
Crisp Mixture
- ½ cup of old-fashioned oats
- ½ cup of flour
- 3 TBSP brown sugar
- 1 stick of cold butter
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Fire up the Sherman Cooker to get a hot bed of coals established and a hot fire burning.
- In a cast iron skillet or a disposable pie dish, add sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, butter and vanilla. Mix well, coating all of the apples with the mixture and cook until the apples are soft.
- Next, layer the crisp mixture on top. Cover with a basting cover or a large stainless-steel bowl and cook for 30 minutes or until the crisp is browned.
