Let's Keep It Simple
Cast Iron Care
Your Original Sherman Cooker can be cleaned as needed to preserve the appearance, but cleaning is just for aesthetics. The animal fat and cooking debris left behind on the Cooking Grate will work wonders to protect it from the elements.
• Allow time for the Sherman Cooker to cool down completely prior to any cleaning.
• Using a typical wire grill brush, gently scrub any leftover food off of the Cooking Grate.
• Season the Cooking Grate with the vegetable oil of your choice using a lint-free towel or pastry brush.

...and How About Ash Disposal
The Original Sherman Cooker burning dry hardwood produces very little ash, but like all fire pits it will require the occasional tidying up.
• Allow time for the Sherman Cooker to cool down completely prior to any cleaning
• Remove the Cooking Grate and Fire Grate
• Tip the Fire Pit on its side to allow for easy access to shovel up the ash
• Return the Fire Pit to its level, non-flammable surface and reinstall the Cooking Grate and Fire Grate

If we only knew then what that simple gift of a cast iron grate from Pépère would evolve into...
